About
Snowflake's own plugin for coding agents. It spots when a request is about Snowflake and hands it to Cortex Code, Snowflake's agent for data work, which runs it against your account with its built-in Snowflake skills. Everything else stays with your current agent. What you can do with it - Ask about your Snowflake account in plain words: warehouses, databases, schemas and tables - Hand off Snowflake work such as data quality checks, dynamic tables, governance policies, Cortex Search and ML - Type $cortex-run before a request to send it straight to Cortex Code - Follow up on an answer, and Cortex Code carries on in the same session How it works - A light keyword filter checks each prompt. Snowflake requests load its routing skill and go to the Cortex Code CLI - A setup skill installs the Snowflake CLI and the Cortex Code CLI when they're missing - Each run gets a security envelope: read-only, read-write, research (reads plus the web) or deploy (full access) - It scrubs personal data from prompts, blocks paths to credentials and can keep an audit log How to install it In Claude Code it's in Anthropic's official marketplace: claude plugin install snowflake-cortex-code@claude-plugins-official. In Codex, add Snowflake's marketplace with codex plugin marketplace add Snowflake-Labs/snowflake-ai-kit, then run codex plugin add snowflake-cortex-code@snowflake-ai-kit. Good to know It needs the Cortex Code CLI (cortex) on your PATH and a Snowflake connection, which you add with snow connection add. Its setup skill asks you to remove any Snowflake MCP server from Claude Code's settings first. Snowflake bills Cortex Code use, and its docs now call Cortex Code "CoCo".
Once it’s added
“Show me my Snowflake warehouses.”
“What databases do I have access to?”
“List all tables in my current schema.”
“Create a dynamic table that refreshes hourly with top customers.”
“Check data quality for my orders table.”
“$cortex-run analyze query performance for the last 7 days”
Before you add it
Reads only
Your Snowflake warehouses, databases, schemas and tables, through Cortex Code · Query results, within what your Snowflake role can see
Makes changes · your agent can ask first
Creates and changes Snowflake objects, like dynamic tables, under the read-write envelope · Runs with full access only under the deploy envelope
