About
Matt Pocock's own agent skills for real engineering, in one plugin. They're small, composable skills he uses every day to fix the ways coding agents usually go wrong: building the wrong thing, talking in 20 words where one will do, code that doesn't work, and codebases that turn into a ball of mud. Some you run by typing them (like /grill-me); others your agent reaches for on its own when the task fits. What its skills cover - Grilling: /grill-me interviews you about a plan until every branch is resolved, and /grill-with-docs does the same while keeping your GLOSSARY.md and decision records (ADRs) up to date - Specs and tickets: /to-spec turns the conversation into a spec on your issue tracker, /to-tickets breaks it into tracer-bullet tickets, and /wayfinder maps work too big for one session - Building: /implement and /implement-spec work through a spec, driving test-first development and closing with a code review - Quality: tdd (a red-green-refactor loop), diagnosing-bugs for hard bugs and performance regressions, and code-review along two axes, your coding standards and the spec - Design: improve-codebase-architecture, codebase-design and domain-modeling, for deep modules and a shared language with your agent - Writing for agents: writing-for-agents, a reference for writing skills, AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md and any doc an agent reaches by a pointer - Everyday helpers: handoff, teach, to-questionnaire, wait-what, prototype, research, retro, triage, pr and wizard, plus /ask-matt to find the right one How to install it In Claude Code, run claude plugin install mattpocock-skills@claude-plugins-official. Codex and GitHub Copilot install it from the mattpocock/skills marketplace, Gemini CLI installs the skill folders with gemini skills install, and other agents can take editable copies with npx skills@latest add mattpocock/skills. Pick one way per agent, or you'll get every skill twice. Good to know - Run /setup-matt-pocock-skills once in each repo first. It asks which issue tracker you use (GitHub, GitLab, local files or another), the labels you triage with, and where to save docs. - The plugin updates itself; copies installed with npx skills are updated by hand. - Published by Matt Pocock under the MIT licence.
Once it’s added
“Grill me about this plan until every branch of the design is resolved.”
“Turn this conversation into a spec and put it on our issue tracker.”
“Break this spec into tracer-bullet tickets with their blocking edges.”
“Fix this bug test-first with a red-green-refactor loop.”
“Scan this codebase for deepening opportunities.”
“Tighten our CLAUDE.md so the agent follows it reliably.”
