About
Microsoft SQL for Fabric Database Hub is the Microsoft SQL team's plugin for asking about your whole database estate. Its skill teaches your agent to call Database Hub's read-only, Microsoft Entra-authenticated Fabric APIs, so it can answer tenant-wide questions about Azure SQL, SQL Server enabled by Azure Arc, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Azure Cosmos DB and SQL databases in Fabric. What you can do with it - See your database estate by engine and subscription, with counts for each kind of database - Check CPU, storage and memory health for Microsoft SQL and PostgreSQL, and availability and RU consumption for Cosmos DB - Find performance issues and the databases with the highest memory or storage utilization - Review security findings, network exposure, authentication, auditing and customer-managed-key coverage - Get a prioritized list of what to fix first, without changing anything - List the SQL databases in a Fabric workspace How it works The plugin bundles one Agent Skill, databasehub-cli. When you ask about your estate, your agent calls the Fabric API through the Azure CLI (az rest), follows every page of results, and tells you when data is missing, partial or outside your permissions instead of treating it as healthy. How it connects Install it from Microsoft's microsoft-sql marketplace in Claude Code, GitHub Copilot CLI, VS Code, Codex, Cursor or Grok Build. Sign in with az login as a Microsoft Entra user: you see only the databases your Azure and Fabric permissions allow. Database Hub works with a Fabric Free license, with no Fabric capacity needed. Good to know - It's read-only: it recommends fixes but declines to create, change or delete resources. - It can't see query text, Query Store, execution plans or blocking; those need direct database access and a SQL diagnostics plugin. - Fabric SQL support is inventory only, and Database Hub is in preview.
