Google Workspace CLI

The Google Workspace CLI (gws) is one command line for Google Workspace, built for people and AI agents. As a Gemini CLI extension, it gives your agent every gws command and the Workspace agent skills, so it can work across Drive, Gmail, Calendar, Sheets, Docs, Chat and the other Workspace APIs. What you can do with it - Send, reply to and forward email, and get a summary of unread mail - See today's agenda, create events and prepare for your next meeting - Read and append rows in Google Sheets, and add text to Google Docs - Upload files to Drive and announce them in a Chat space - Get a standup report or a weekly digest of meetings and email - Call any Workspace API method, with --dry-run to preview a request first How it works gws reads Google's Discovery Service at runtime, so new Workspace API methods show up without an update, and every response is structured JSON. The repo also ships Agent Skills: one for each API, plus workflow helpers and recipes for Gmail, Drive, Docs, Calendar and Sheets. How it connects Install gws (a release binary, or npm install -g @googleworkspace/cli), sign in once with gws auth setup, then add the extension with gemini extensions install https://github.com/googleworkspace/cli. The extension uses your terminal's gws sign-in. gws auth setup needs a Google Cloud project and can create one with the gcloud CLI. Good to know It comes from the googleworkspace team on GitHub but isn't an officially supported Google product, and it's under active development, so expect changes. Responses can be passed through Google Cloud Model Armor to screen for prompt injection.
