Gemini CLI is Google's open-source AI agent that brings Gemini into your terminal. It queries and edits codebases, runs commands and automates workflows, and ships new releases every week. Who can use it Since June 18, 2026, Gemini CLI works with a Gemini Code Assist Standard or Enterprise license, or a paid Gemini API key (AI Studio or Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform). Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers and free users moved to Antigravity CLI. What you can add - MCP servers, hosted or local: `gemini mcp add`, or the mcpServers section of ~/.gemini/settings.json (for you) or .gemini/settings.json (for a project). Hosted servers can sign in with OAuth or take headers such as an API key. - Agent Skills: folders with a SKILL.md in ~/.gemini/skills (or ~/.agents/skills), or .gemini/skills in a project. It asks before it uses one. - Extensions, which package MCP servers, commands, hooks, sub-agents and skills together, installed from a GitHub repository with `gemini extensions install`. How it connects It runs on your computer, so it starts local servers itself and reaches hosted ones over the internet.

Ask for a video and your agent writes it as HTML, then HyperFrames renders it to MP4: promos, explainers, captions and motion graphics.
