About
claude-obsidian is a community-built Claude Code plugin by Agrici Daniel that turns an Obsidian vault into an AI second brain. Drop papers, articles, transcripts or your own notes into the vault's inbox/, and the agent writes linked pages with their sources recorded, answers questions from what the vault already knows, and keeps it healthy. It follows Andrej Karpathy's LLM Wiki pattern. What its skills cover - Setting up a new vault, or adopting your existing Obsidian vault without moving your notes - Turning captured sources into linked pages with their sources recorded - Answering questions from the vault, with citations, without changing any file - Keeping a good answer as a note, only when you ask - Health checks for dead links, orphan pages, missing metadata and empty sections - Web research only with your consent, clean web captures, Obsidian Canvas boards, local BM25 search and the official Obsidian command line - Filing new notes Generic, LYT, PARA or Zettelkasten style, and writing correct Obsidian Markdown and Bases It also brings three read-only agents (wiki-ingest, wiki-lint and verifier) that draft and check; only its transaction core writes to the vault. How to install it In Claude Code, run claude plugin marketplace add AgriciDaniel/claude-obsidian, then claude plugin install claude-obsidian@agricidaniel-claude-obsidian. Start Claude Code in your vault folder and run /claude-obsidian:wiki to set it up; it shows you a preview first. It needs Python 3.11 or newer, and Obsidian for the visual side. The skills also link into Codex, OpenCode, Gemini CLI, ZCode, Cursor and Windsurf with the repo's setup script. Good to know - Your vault stays on your computer as plain Markdown. Every change is planned first and applied as one transaction that can be rolled back, and a note you edit in the meantime is never overwritten. - Web research, Git checkpoints and anything that sends data off your machine ask you first. - On Windows, use WSL for anything that writes to the vault. - It isn't an Obsidian community plugin, and it isn't made by Anthropic or Obsidian.
