What OpenChatCut does

About

OpenChatCut is 0xsline's open-source, local-first video editor built for agents, and these are its Agent Skills. Install the OpenChatCut skill and your agent connects to the editor's local MCP server, then edits a real multitrack project: every change lands on tracks, clips, captions and effects you can keep editing by hand, undo, or hand to another agent. It's independent open source, not affiliated with the commercial ChatCut product. What its skills cover - Talking-head and interview editing: transcribe, cut mistakes and pauses through the text, and caption automatically - Short-form content: long videos to shorts, livestreams to clips, multi-clip reels, beat-synced montages and thumbnails - Motion graphics and shaders: editable motion templates placed where they fit, and custom WebGL effects - Generation: images, video, voice, music and sound effects through the providers you configure - Planning: storyboards and shot breakdowns, explainer videos, product ad scripts and e-commerce montages - Export: MP4, audio, captions, FCPXML or the whole project How to install it Run npx skills add 0xsline/OpenChatCut, then tell your agent "Set up OpenChatCut". It registers the local MCP connection (http://localhost:5199/api/external-mcp/mcp) and loads the editor's specialized skills when they're needed. Install the OpenChatCut desktop app from its GitHub releases (macOS, Windows and Linux) or run it from source, and open the project you want to edit. The README covers Claude Code, Codex and more. Good to know - External agents work on an isolated draft in an edit session. In manual mode you review, preview and approve the proposal inside OpenChatCut. Generation, export and deletion aren't available to external sessions. - Projects and media stay on your machine. Whether AI requests leave it depends on the models and services you configure. - If you expose the MCP endpoint beyond your machine, set a Bearer token. - The desktop builds are early, and the macOS packages aren't signed yet. - AGPL licensed.
