awesome-novel is an open-source writing workflow by modoojunko that turns your agent into a team of writing agents for long fiction. A director agent hands work to specialist agents for planning, prompting, drafting, reviewing and record-keeping, and every setting, outline and chapter is kept as plain Markdown in your project folder. What you can do with it - Start a new novel or import one you've already begun, and set its genre, world, characters and writing style - Plan the arc back from the ending, then volumes and chapter outlines with scene breakdowns, emotional beats and hooks for you to approve - Draft chapters from a layered prompt built from the outline, your style and its rules against AI-sounding prose - Distill the style of sample texts you provide into a style card the writer follows - Get an optional reader's review of each chapter - Archive finished chapters and update the timeline, character files and memory so later chapters stay consistent How it connects - Tell your agent "Install awesome-novel-agent for me", or clone the repo and run ./install.sh with your platform (claude-code, codex, opencode and others). Then type /awesome-novel in the folder for your novel. - It needs Python 3.9 or later; some platforms also need pyyaml. Good to know - Its instructions are in Chinese, and its genre presets centre on Chinese web fiction such as xianxia. There's an English README. - It's free for personal use under AGPL-3.0; commercial use needs the author's permission.
