About
Startup Business Analyst is a plugin from Seth Hobson's agents collection (wshobson/agents), a community project. It gives your coding agent a startup analyst subagent, five skills and three commands for the analysis and modelling work early-stage founders do: sizing a market, projecting revenue and costs, mapping competitors, choosing metrics and planning a team. It works from the context and assumptions you give it, plus web research. What's inside - startup-analyst (subagent): takes market, modelling, competitive and planning questions for pre-seed to Series A companies - market-sizing-analysis: TAM, SAM and SOM with top-down, bottom-up and value-theory methods, with templates for SaaS, marketplace, consumer, B2B and fintech - startup-financial-modeling: 3–5 year projections with cohort-based revenue, costs (COGS, S&M, R&D, G&A), headcount, cash flow, burn and runway, in conservative, base and optimistic scenarios - competitive-landscape: Porter's Five Forces, Blue Ocean Strategy, positioning maps and competitive pricing - startup-metrics-framework: which metrics to track for your business model, such as ARR, NRR, CAC and LTV for SaaS, or GMV and take rate for a marketplace - team-composition-analysis: roles by stage, US-focused compensation benchmarks, equity allocation and full-time vs. contractor choices - Commands: /startup-business-analyst:market-opportunity for a market sizing report, /startup-business-analyst:financial-projections for a three-scenario model, and /startup-business-analyst:business-case for a business case document covering market, product, competition, financials, go-to-market, team and risks How to install In Claude Code, run /plugin marketplace add wshobson/agents, then /plugin install startup-business-analyst@claude-code-workflows. Codex CLI uses codex plugin marketplace add wshobson/agents, then codex plugin add startup-business-analyst@claude-code-workflows. Good to know - It's a community plugin. It doesn't connect to your accounts or to market data services: its numbers come from the assumptions you give it and public sources it finds on the web, and it shows its methods and assumptions so you can check them. - It writes its results as Markdown reports with tables, which you can move into a spreadsheet. - Treat its output as a starting point for your own planning. It's analysis and modelling help, not investment, financial or legal advice.
