About
Repomix packs a whole codebase into a single AI-friendly file. Run as a local MCP server, it lets your agent pack a folder on your machine or a GitHub repository, then read and search the packed output, so you don't prepare or upload files by hand. It's an open-source community project by Kazuki Yamada (yamadashy). What you can do with it - Pack a local folder into one file, choosing what to include and ignore with glob patterns - Pack a GitHub repository by URL or owner/repo, including a branch or commit - Compress code with Tree-sitter, keeping signatures and structure while leaving out implementation details - Search a packed output with regular expressions, or read it by line range - Attach a Repomix output file you already have - Turn a local codebase into a Claude Agent Skill, with a summary, the project structure and its files How it connects It runs on your machine with npx -y repomix --mcp, or with Docker (ghcr.io/yamadashy/repomix --mcp). There's no account or sign-in. Repomix respects .gitignore and uses Secretlint to leave out files that match known credential formats. Repomix also publishes its own Claude Code plugins (repomix-mcp, repomix-commands and repomix-explorer) in its marketplace, yamadashy/repomix. Good to know - By default the server can read any path your user account can, and packing a folder loads that folder's repomix.config file, which can run code. - For code you don't trust, start it with --sandbox: its file tools stay inside one workspace folder, config files aren't loaded, and remote packing, skill generation and attaching outputs are turned off. - Repomix describes its MCP server as experimental.
