About
OpenDesign is an open-source, local-first design workspace. It generates prototypes, landing pages, dashboards, slides and other designs from a brief, using its skills, plugins and design systems, and previews them in its app. This plugin connects your coding agent to OpenDesign on your machine over MCP, so the agent can commission designs, read the live files of your prototypes and write back to them. What you can do with it - Start a design run from a brief, with one of OpenDesign's skills or plugins, and follow it until the preview is ready - Create projects and artifacts, and write, search or delete files inside a project - Read a project's live files, such as its tokens CSS, components and entry HTML, instead of a stale export - See which project and file you have open in OpenDesign right now - List the skills, plugins and agent CLIs OpenDesign can use How it connects - The plugin runs OpenDesign's local MCP server (od mcp) against its daemon at http://127.0.0.1:7456 - Install the OpenDesign desktop app (macOS or Windows), or run it from source or Docker, first, so the od command and its daemon are there - OpenDesign does the design work with an agent CLI already on your machine, such as Claude Code or Codex, or with your own API key Good to know - On macOS, the system's own /usr/bin/od command can shadow OpenDesign's od. If the server won't start, copy the snippet from Settings → MCP server in the desktop app instead - Projects stay on your machine, and the daemon only listens on 127.0.0.1 - Deleting a project needs its exact name and a confirmation - Open source under the Apache 2.0 licence

Your agent draws editorial diagrams in your brand, as one self-contained HTML and SVG file, and redraws Mermaid, draw.io and Excalidraw.
Gives your agent a live tldraw canvas in the chat, so it can draw diagrams, flows and sketches with you.
A community skill that asks four questions about your product, then has your agent build an animated, single-file HTML landing page.
