About
Datadog's own plugin for Claude Code, in preview. It connects your agent to the Datadog MCP Server, so you can ask about your logs, metrics, traces, monitors, dashboards and incidents in plain words. It also adds commands that walk you through setup, choosing your Datadog site and picking which tools are on. What you can do with it - Search and analyze logs, such as error logs for one service in the last hour - Query metrics and see which monitors are alerting - Pull up APM traces and spans, such as slow requests to a service - Find dashboards, notebooks, hosts, services, incidents and events - Create and edit notebooks to document an investigation - Turn on more toolsets for alerting, dashboards, Error Tracking, Synthetic tests, DDSQL, Kubernetes and more What's in the plugin - Datadog's remote MCP server, set up for you - /ddsetup for first-time setup, /ddconfig to change your Datadog site or organization or fix a broken connection, and /ddtoolsets to turn groups of tools on or off - /ddviz, a panel on macOS that shows chart results as live charts - A skill that scaffolds a new Datadog App project How it connects Install it in Claude Code with /plugin install datadog@claude-plugins-official. On first use, /ddsetup asks which Datadog site you use (US1, US3, US5, EU, AP1, AP2 or UK1), then you sign in to Datadog with OAuth in your browser. On a server or in CI, you can set the MCP domain, an API key and an application key as environment variables instead. Good to know - It acts with your own Datadog permissions. An admin has to turn on MCP access for the organization, and your role needs MCP Read, plus MCP Write for tools that change things. The Standard role has both. - An admin can hide write tools for the whole organization. - Some toolsets, such as APM and Live Debugger, are in preview: request them by name, and some need a sign-up. - Datadog's government sites (ddog-gov.com) aren't supported. - Datadog says no Datadog credentials are sent to the AI model provider.
