About
Anthropic's legal plugin, one of its knowledge-work plugins for in-house legal teams. It's built mainly for Cowork, Anthropic's desktop agent, and also works in Claude Code. Its skills give Claude a legal team's workflows for contract review, NDA triage, compliance checks, briefings and templated responses, set up around your own playbook. Anthropic says plainly that the plugin assists with legal workflows but does not provide legal advice. Its analysis should be reviewed by qualified legal professionals before anyone relies on it. What you can do with it - Review a contract clause by clause against your negotiation playbook, with GREEN, YELLOW and RED flags, suggested redlines and the business impact - Triage an incoming NDA as GREEN (standard approval), YELLOW (counsel review) or RED (full legal review) - Run a compliance check on a planned feature or campaign: regulations that may apply, such as GDPR and CCPA, the approvals needed and the risk areas - Check what's already signed with a vendor (NDAs, MSAs, DPAs), with gaps and upcoming expirations - Get a daily brief, a research brief on a topic, or a rapid brief on a developing incident - Draft replies to common inquiries, such as data subject requests or litigation holds, from your templates, with checks for when a template shouldn't be used - Prepare meeting briefings, rate legal risks by severity and likelihood, and get a document ready for e-signature with a pre-signature checklist Your playbook You write your team's standard positions, acceptable ranges and escalation triggers in a legal.local.md file, in a folder you've shared with Cowork or in your project's .claude folder in Claude Code. The default examples reflect U.S. positions (Delaware, New York, California), and Anthropic says teams under other legal systems must customize the playbook before relying on its analysis. Connectors it bundles - Slack, for team requests and notifications - Box and Egnyte, for playbooks, templates and precedents - Atlassian (Jira and Confluence), for matter tracking - DocuSign, for e-signature It also has empty Google Calendar and Gmail entries for you to fill in. Its skills are written for categories rather than products, so another server of the same kind, such as Microsoft 365, Ironclad or Adobe Sign, can stand in for a bundled one. How to install it In Claude Code, run claude plugin marketplace add anthropics/knowledge-work-plugins, then claude plugin install legal@knowledge-work-plugins. Its skills run as /review-contract, /triage-nda, /compliance-check, /vendor-check, /brief, /legal-response and /signature-request. Good to know - It isn't legal advice: its reviews, triage and compliance checks are a starting point for qualified legal professionals to check. - Each connector signs in with your own account for that service. - With nothing connected, it notes the gaps and suggests manual checks. - Redlines, briefs and responses come back as drafts for you to review; it sends a document for signature only when you ask it to.
