# Yao Meta Skill

> Turn a repeated workflow, prompt set or SOP into a tested, packaged agent skill, or audit and improve a skill you already have.

Yao Meta Skill is yaojingang's skill for building skills. Give it a workflow note, prompt set, transcript, runbook or SOP you keep repeating, and it turns that into a reusable skill package: a lean SKILL.md with a clear trigger, explicit inputs and outputs, and references, scripts and evals only where they earn their place. It can also audit, evaluate and upgrade a skill you already have.

What you can do with it
- Create a new skill from repeated work, after a short intent dialogue (at most two rounds of questions)
- Improve an existing skill: tighten its trigger description, add trigger and output evals, and fix what a review finds
- Package a skill for other agents, with generated targets for OpenAI, Claude and generic Agent Skills
- Prepare a skill for release: package checks, install simulation, permission probes and a single HTML review page with blockers and fixes
- Choose how much process a skill needs: scaffold, production, library or governed mode

How to install it
Run npx -y skills add yaojingang/yao-meta-skill -a '*' -g -y, restart your agent, then ask it to "create a skill from this workflow", "improve this existing skill" or "add evals to this skill". The README also covers a Python CLI (scripts/yao.py) for the same steps.

Good to know
- Its scripts need Python 3.
- It checks GitHub for a newer version at most once a day, and only updates when you confirm. Telemetry is opt-in.
- Provider-backed output evals use your own API key when you run them.
- A community project by yaojingang, MIT licensed.
