# mcp-google-map > Lets your agent find places, check routes and travel times, plan itineraries and audit local search rankings with Google Maps data. A community set of Agent Skills by CabLate that teach your agent to answer real location questions with Google Maps Platform data. Three skills cover general map research, travel planning and local SEO. They call the project's standalone CLI (@cablate/mcp-google-map), so there's no MCP server to set up. A fourth skill holds project notes for people working on the package itself. What you can do with it - Find and compare real places with natural-language and nearby search, place details, ratings, hours and reviews - Turn addresses into coordinates and back, one at a time or in batches - Compare routes and travel modes, and put up to 25 stops in an efficient order - Build day trips and multi-day itineraries grouped by area, with travel times checked - Look up elevation, timezone, weather and air quality for a place - Audit a business's local search visibility with grid rankings, nearby competitors and ARP, ATRP and SoLV metrics The skills - google-maps: place, address, route and neighborhood questions - google-maps-travel-planning: evidence-backed itineraries and stop sequences - google-maps-local-seo: Google Business Profile visibility, grid rankings and competitor audits - mcp-google-map-project: architecture and decision notes for contributors to the package How it connects - Each skill runs npx -y @cablate/mcp-google-map exec with a tool name and JSON parameters. It needs Node.js 22 or newer. - You bring your own Google Maps Platform API key, set as GOOGLE_MAPS_API_KEY, from a Google Cloud project with billing enabled. - Turn on the APIs your tasks need: Places API (New), Routes API and often Geocoding API. Elevation, timezone, weather, air quality and static maps each have their own API. - npx -y @cablate/mcp-google-map doctor checks your setup without calling Google. - The maker also offers the same tools as a Claude Code plugin, a Codex plugin and an MCP server over stdio or Streamable HTTP.
