# kanban-md > Skills for kanban-md, a file-based kanban board CLI: your agent tracks tasks, and several agents claim and finish work in parallel. kanban-md is an agent-first kanban board that lives in your repository as plain Markdown files, run by a single local binary with no database, server or account. These are its maker's Agent Skills: they teach your agent to manage the board and to work through it, so you can hand tasks to one or several agents and supervise them. What its skills teach your agent - kanban-md: create, list, filter, move, edit and delete tasks; read the board for a standup; check blocked and ready-to-start work, dependencies, metrics and the activity log; use compact output to save tokens - kanban-based-development: a parallel-safe workflow where each agent claims a task, works in its own git worktree, implements and verifies the change, merges it, releases the claim and marks the task done, leaving a handoff note and deferring to you when a human decision is needed How it works - Install the CLI first (Homebrew: brew install antopolskiy/tap/kanban-md, or go install), then run kanban-md init in your project. - kanban-md skill install adds the skills for detected agents; the maker documents Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and OpenClaw. - Each task is a Markdown file in kanban/tasks/, so agents, people, scripts and Git all read the same board. kanban-md tui shows a live terminal board for supervising. - Claims expire when an agent stops renewing them, which reduces duplicate work between cooperating agents. Good to know - Claims are coordination leases, not a security boundary: agents have to follow the protocol. - The development workflow is written around the project's own Go tooling.
