# Wolfram MCP

> Wolfram's free hosted MCP server: your agent computes with Wolfram Language and gets curated answers from Wolfram|Alpha.

Wolfram's own hosted MCP server, which Wolfram calls Wolfram Cloud MCP. When your agent needs exact math or trusted data, it calls Wolfram instead of guessing: Wolfram|Alpha for answers from Wolfram's curated knowledgebase, and a Wolfram Language kernel for open-ended computation and visualizations.

What you can do with it
- Solve and graph equations, and work through algebra, calculus and other math
- Run Wolfram Language code: simulate a Lorenz system, visualize a network or analyze stock returns
- Ask Wolfram|Alpha about chemistry, physics, geography, history, art, astronomy and more
- Pull up curated data and facts, such as tornadoes in the US
- Search Wolfram's information for relevant context before it computes

Its three tools
- WolframContext: semantic search over Wolfram's information, used at the start of a new topic
- WolframLanguageEvaluator: evaluates Wolfram Language code in a stateless kernel, and understands natural-language input
- WolframAlpha: natural-language queries to Wolfram|Alpha

How it connects
Wolfram hosts it at https://agenttools.wolfram.com/mcp, so there's nothing to install and no sign-in or API key. It's also in ChatGPT's app directory and Claude's connector directory. Wolfram documents setup for ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code with GitHub Copilot, the Copilot CLI and other MCP clients.

Good to know
- It's free for limited personal use and needs no Wolfram subscription.
- Each request stands alone: no sessions, no file uploads or downloads, and no custom servers. For those, Wolfram Local MCP runs on your own Wolfram|One or Mathematica.
- Only the queries your agent sends to Wolfram's tools reach Wolfram; the rest of your conversation stays in your client.
- Wolfram suggests letting WolframAlpha and WolframContext run freely and setting WolframLanguageEvaluator to need your approval.

## Install

### ChatGPT

In ChatGPT on the web: Plugins → + → Add custom MCP server, then paste https://agenttools.wolfram.com/mcp under Connection. Business and Enterprise plans; Pro can add read-only servers.

### Claude

In Claude (web or desktop): Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector, then paste https://agenttools.wolfram.com/mcp

### Muse

In Muse: In a Muse chat, ask it to create a custom connector for the MCP server at https://agenttools.wolfram.com/mcp. Then tap Connect on the card it shows and sign in, or add your key.

### Grok Bot

In Grok Bot: In a chat with your Bot, say "Add this MCP server: https://agenttools.wolfram.com/mcp". It confirms the details with you and sets it up, and the tools are ready from your next message.

### Gemini

In Gemini: At gemini.google.com: Settings → Connected Apps → Add a custom app, then paste https://agenttools.wolfram.com/mcp

### Grok

In Grok on the web: At grok.com/connectors: New Connector → Custom, then enter https://agenttools.wolfram.com/mcp and sign in if it asks.

### GitHub Copilot

Add to VS Code: vscode:mcp/install?%7B%22name%22%3A%22wolfram-mcp%22%2C%22type%22%3A%22http%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Fagenttools.wolfram.com%2Fmcp%22%7D

Copilot CLI:

```shell
copilot mcp add --transport http wolfram-mcp https://agenttools.wolfram.com/mcp
```

### Cursor

Add to Cursor: cursor://anysphere.cursor-deeplink/mcp/install?name=wolfram-mcp&config=eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL2FnZW50dG9vbHMud29sZnJhbS5jb20vbWNwIn0%3D

Add to .cursor/mcp.json:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "wolfram-mcp": {
      "url": "https://agenttools.wolfram.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

### Claude Code

Run in your terminal:

```shell
claude mcp add --transport http wolfram-mcp https://agenttools.wolfram.com/mcp
```

### Codex

Run in your terminal:

```shell
codex mcp add wolfram-mcp --url https://agenttools.wolfram.com/mcp
```

### Antigravity

Add to ~/.gemini/config/mcp_config.json:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "wolfram-mcp": {
      "url": "https://agenttools.wolfram.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

Run in your terminal:

```shell
gemini mcp add --transport http wolfram-mcp https://agenttools.wolfram.com/mcp
```

### Replit

In Replit: At replit.com/integrations, open MCP Servers → + Add MCP server, paste https://agenttools.wolfram.com/mcp (add any headers under Advanced settings), then click Test & save.

### OpenClaw

Run in your terminal:

```shell
openclaw mcp add wolfram-mcp --url https://agenttools.wolfram.com/mcp --transport streamable-http
```

If it needs a key or sign-in: For https://agenttools.wolfram.com/mcp, add --header NAME=value for each header it needs, or --auth oauth and then run openclaw mcp login wolfram-mcp.

### OpenCode

Run in your terminal:

```shell
opencode mcp add wolfram-mcp --url https://agenttools.wolfram.com/mcp
```

If it needs a key: For https://agenttools.wolfram.com/mcp, add --header 'NAME=value' for each header it needs. Add --global to use it in every project.

### Hermes Agent

Run in your terminal:

```shell
hermes mcp add wolfram-mcp --url https://agenttools.wolfram.com/mcp
```
