# Syfert Legal Research

> Connects your agent to a U.S. case law and statute library to search opinions, check citations and quotes, and audit briefs before you file.

Syfert Legal Research is the hosted MCP server from Syfert, a legal research service run by Graham W. Syfert, Esq., P.A., a law practice in Jacksonville, Florida. It gives your agent Syfert's own U.S. law library: court opinions from every state and federal court, plus the statutes of all fifty states and D.C., the U.S. Code, the C.F.R., the federal rules, the sentencing guidelines and most states' court rules. It's built for lawyers who want every citation their agent writes checked against real cases before it goes into a filing.

What you can do with it
- Search case law in full text or by meaning, with court and date filters, ranked by authority
- Check that a citation exists and is the case the draft says it is, catching invented cases, misprints and wrong names
- Verify a quotation word for word against the opinion it's attributed to, with the right pin page
- Audit a whole brief in one pass (every citation, case name and quote, with replacements for bad authority), or run the same check on the other side's brief
- See whether a case is still good law, with red, yellow or green treatment flags and the citing cases behind them, and what courts actually cite it for
- Find the case to cite for a proposition, the source of a half-remembered quote, or a doctrine as a state's courts name it
- Search and read statutes and court rules, annotated with the leading cases construing them

How it connects
It's a hosted server at https://mcp.syfert.com/mcp, with nothing to install. Syfert's install page covers Claude Code, claude.ai and the Claude desktop app, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, VS Code with GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI and MikeOSS. Agents that can send a header use that address with "Authorization: Bearer" and your token. claude.ai custom connectors and ChatGPT's developer mode can't set a header, so for those Syfert gives you an address with the token in it (https://mcp.syfert.com/YOUR-TOKEN/mcp). Syfert notes that ChatGPT's developer mode needs a Pro, Team or Enterprise plan.

Sign-in and plans
- You can try it without an account: anonymous use is limited to a few calls a day.
- A free account (Google, Microsoft or email) gives you a token with much higher limits. Pro is a paid plan with a dedicated index and no caps.
- Every tool only reads except suggest_treatment, which lets your agent propose a correction to a case's flag. Suggestions go into a queue for a person at Syfert to review.

Good to know
- Syfert says it doesn't log what you search, the citations you check or the briefs you paste in. It keeps only which tool ran, whether it worked and how long it took.
- It covers U.S. law only.
- Syfert's terms say the service is provided as-is and nothing in it is legal advice: it checks the citations, but you're still the lawyer and the filings are still yours.
