# SumUp MCP Server

> Lets your agent work with your SumUp account: transactions, refunds, checkouts, payouts and card readers, plus SumUp's developer docs.

SumUp's own hosted MCP server. It connects your agent to the SumUp APIs, so you can explore your SumUp account, payments, customers and payouts in plain words, and it serves SumUp's developer documentation and API specification as resources.

What you can do with it
- Look up your merchant profile
- Review transactions and receipts, and refund a transaction in full or in part
- Create checkouts and check their status
- Save customers and see their payment instruments
- List payouts, including deductions for refunds and chargebacks
- Take payments on SumUp card readers through the Cloud API: list readers, check their status and start a checkout on one
- Manage your account's team members and roles
- Read SumUp's developer documentation and OpenAPI specification

How it connects
SumUp hosts it at https://mcp.sumup.com/mcp over Streamable HTTP. The first time your agent uses it, you sign in with SumUp in your browser (OAuth). SumUp API keys (sup_sk_...) don't work with the hosted server. SumUp documents setup for Claude Code, Claude Desktop (as a custom connector), Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, VS Code with GitHub Copilot and Kiro.

Good to know
- It can move money (checkouts, refunds, card reader payments), so SumUp suggests connecting a sandbox merchant account before you try payment workflows.
- For an API key or a stdio-only client, SumUp also publishes a local version: run npx -y @sumup/mcp with SUMUP_API_KEY set (Node.js 22 or later).
- The SumUp plugin (github.com/sumup/sumup-skills) bundles this server with SumUp's payment integration skills. If you install it, use its connection rather than adding the server twice.
