# Stripe plugin

> Gives your agent Stripe's skills and its hosted MCP server, to build Stripe integrations the current way and work in your Stripe account.

Stripe's own plugin for Claude Code, from its stripe/ai repository and listed in Anthropic's plugin marketplace. Installing it adds Stripe's hosted MCP server, which reaches your Stripe account and searches Stripe's docs, plus Stripe's agent skills, which load when a request matches and steer your agent toward current Stripe APIs and practices. Stripe keeps the skills up to date through the plugin.

What its skills cover
- Integration choices: sandboxes, Checkout Sessions or PaymentIntents, the Payment Element, billing and subscriptions, Stripe Tax, Treasury and API key security
- Upgrading Stripe API versions, webhook endpoints, server SDKs, Stripe.js and mobile SDKs
- Recommending a Stripe Connect setup for a marketplace or platform, after researching your business from its website, description and codebase
- What connected accounts must provide for verification, by country and business type
- Building Stripe Apps and Dashboard extensions
- Usage-based billing with Metronome
- Reading and searching Stripe's docs and API reference with the Stripe CLI
- Finding providers with Stripe Directory, provisioning services such as databases with Stripe Projects, and sending funds to another Stripe business

Also included
- /explain-error: explains a Stripe error code or message and writes handling code in your project's language
- /test-cards: lists Stripe's test card numbers for a scenario such as declines or 3D Secure

The MCP server
It connects to Stripe's hosted MCP server at https://mcp.stripe.com, and Stripe asks you to sign in the first time. Through it your agent can look up and create customers, payments, invoices, subscriptions and payment links, ask about billing metrics, and search Stripe's documentation. Stripe asks a person to confirm some writes, such as refunds.

How to install it
In Claude Code, run claude plugin install stripe@claude-plugins-official, or run stripe agent setup from the Stripe CLI, which detects your agents and installs Stripe's plugin for each. Several skills run Stripe CLI commands (stripe docs, stripe projects, stripe pay), so install the Stripe CLI as well.

Good to know
- When a session starts, the plugin checks whether the Stripe CLI is installed, signed in and current, and suggests what to do if not.
- When one of its skills runs, it reports the skill's name to Stripe through the Stripe CLI, if you have it installed.
- From time to time it asks your agent to offer Stripe feedback on the work; your agent shows you the feedback and asks before sending it.
- The skill for sending funds tells your agent to show you the exact command and wait for your confirmation before any money moves.
