# Stripe MCP

> Lets your agent work in your Stripe account: look up customers and payments, create invoices and payment links, and check billing metrics.

Stripe's own hosted MCP server, in public preview. It lets your agent work with the Stripe API and search Stripe's knowledge base, including its documentation and support articles. Instead of one tool per endpoint, your agent searches Stripe's API methods, looks up their parameters, then reads or writes through a large set of supported methods, which keeps its context small.

What you can do with it
- Look up customers, charges, PaymentIntents, invoices, subscriptions, disputes, payouts and your balance
- Create customers, products, prices, coupons, invoices, subscriptions, Checkout Sessions and payment links
- Issue refunds, and update or cancel subscriptions
- Ask about billing metrics such as subscriber churn and active subscribers, and run financial reports (in preview)
- Run SQL against your reporting tables, if you have Sigma
- Search Stripe's docs, and get guided through planning a Stripe integration
- Start or resume a Delaware C corporation or LLC formation with Stripe Atlas
- Send and move money from Treasury accounts (in public preview)

How it connects
Stripe hosts it at https://mcp.stripe.com. Connect with OAuth: Stripe's consent page lets you pick which live accounts or sandboxes your agent can reach, with separate permissions for each. For an agent that can't use OAuth, create an agent API key with only the permissions it needs and send it as a bearer token. Stripe documents setup for ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and VS Code. Its agent plugins (stripe agent setup, from the Stripe CLI) add this server along with Stripe's skills.

Good to know
- Stripe asks a person to confirm some writes, such as refunds and outbound payments: your agent gives you a link to review, and an approval expires after 24 hours.
- Stripe suggests turning on your agent's tool approvals, so you see each call before it runs.
- Team administrators can turn MCP access on or off for live mode and sandboxes separately, and you can revoke a session from your Dashboard settings.
- Connect platforms can act for a connected account by sending the Stripe-Account header with an agent API key.
- From December 2026 it stops accepting full-access secret keys and restricted keys without the Agent tag; use OAuth or an agent API key instead.
