# Sentry MCP

> Lets your agent search Sentry issues, errors, logs and traces, and get Seer's root cause analysis and a proposed fix for a bug.

Sentry's own MCP server, built for coding agents and debugging with a human in the loop. Paste a Sentry issue link or ask in plain words, and your agent pulls in the issue, its stack trace and the events around it, can ask Seer for the root cause, and helps you fix it in your code.

What you can do with it
- Look up a Sentry issue, event, trace, replay, monitor or dashboard from its URL
- Search issues, errors, logs, traces, metrics, profiles and session replays in plain words
- Get Seer's root cause analysis, with the files and lines involved and a proposed code fix
- Read stack traces, breadcrumbs, releases, and cron, uptime and metric monitors
- Search Sentry's documentation for SDK setup and configuration
- Resolve, assign, ignore and comment on issues, if you grant it triage
- Create projects, teams, DSNs, alerts and monitors, if you grant it project management

How it connects
Sentry hosts it at https://mcp.sentry.dev/mcp. You sign in to Sentry with OAuth and choose which skills it gets: Inspect Issues & Events (read-only), Seer, Triage Issues, and Manage Projects & Teams. Add /your-org or /your-org/your-project to the address to keep it to one organization or project. Sentry's install guide covers Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, VS Code and more, and Sentry also offers a Claude Code plugin that adds a Sentry subagent.

For self-hosted Sentry, run it on your machine with npx @sentry/mcp-server@latest and a Sentry user auth token, adding --host for your instance. Run locally, its AI-powered search tools need a key for your own LLM provider (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic or OpenRouter); the other tools work without one.

Good to know
Grant only Inspect Issues & Events and your agent can look things up but can't change anything. Seer isn't part of self-hosted Sentry, so the local server leaves it out for self-hosted hosts unless you turn it back on.
