# Scandit plugin

> Scandit's skills teach your coding agent to add barcode, ID and label scanning to your app, and its MCP server sets up a trial key.

Scandit's own plugin for coding agents. It bundles Scandit's Agent Skills for the Scandit Data Capture SDK with the Scandit MCP server. Describe the scanning you want and your agent loads the matching skill, which writes the integration into your codebase: SDK setup, license activation, UI wiring and migration steps, grounded in Scandit's own documentation.

What its skills cover
- Choosing a product: the data-capture-sdk advisor asks about your workflow, or looks at a screenshot or a photo of your labels, and recommends the right Scandit product
- SparkScan and Barcode Capture for scanning barcodes, and Barcode Selection for picking one among many
- MatrixScan Batch, AR, Count, Find and Pick for tracking many barcodes, AR overlays, counting and guided picking
- Smart Label Capture for fields such as expiry dates and lot numbers on labels
- ID Capture and ID Bolt for passports, driver's licenses and ID cards
- Parser for GS1, HIBC, AAMVA and other structured barcode data
- Migrations between SDK versions (such as v6 to v8), replacing a third-party scanner, and moving a Xamarin app's Scandit code to .NET
Skills come for iOS, Android, web, React Native, Flutter, Capacitor, Cordova, Kotlin Multiplatform and .NET, depending on the product.

The MCP server
The plugin includes Scandit's hosted MCP server, which handles your account and license key. It creates or reuses a trial for the product and platform you're building for, writes the key into your project's .env file, lists the keys you have as masked previews, and retrieves one for native project configuration. It only creates trial keys: it can't create, revoke or change production licenses.

How to install it
In Claude Code, run /plugin install scandit-sdk@claude-plugins-official, or search for Scandit SDK in /plugin. It's also in Cursor's marketplace and in the Codex and Copilot CLIs (marketplace add scandit/skills), and npx plugins add scandit/skills installs it into each coding agent it finds. The ChatGPT and Codex plugin directory ships the skills without the MCP server.

Good to know
- The MCP server signs you in through your browser (OAuth). In Claude Code, run /mcp and pick the Scandit server. You can create a Scandit account from the sign-in page.
- Browser sign-in means the MCP server doesn't work headless or in CI yet. Without it, the skills fall back to the Scandit dashboard for the key.
- The skills themselves send nothing anywhere. The key ends up in your source code, so keep any non-trial key out of version control.
- Trial keys are free. Using Scandit in production needs a commercial license.
