# PrintFriendly MCP

> Lets your agent read any public web page as clean Markdown and turn a page, HTML or Markdown into a PDF or Word file.

PrintFriendly's MCP server for developers gives your agent two things: reading a web page without the ads, menus and pop-ups, and turning content into a document. It runs on your PrintFriendly API key.

What you can do with it
- Read a public web page as clean Markdown, with its title, site, author, date, excerpt, lead image and word count
- Keep the link addresses when you need them, and read more of a very long page with another call
- Make a PDF or Word file from a web address, HTML or Markdown, on Letter or A4 paper
- Get a page back as Markdown, HTML, plain text or JSON, never cut short

How it connects
PrintFriendly hosts it at https://mcp.printfriendly.com over Streamable HTTP. Every request carries your API key, as Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY or X-API-Key: YOUR_API_KEY; there's no sign-in screen. PrintFriendly documents setup for Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Gemini CLI (also as an extension), Windsurf and Cline.

Good to know
- The free plan includes 100 documents a month. Each successful call counts as one, and failed calls don't. Free keys can make 10 calls a minute.
- PDF and Word results come back as download links that last 48 hours.
- It reads public pages only, so a page behind a login or a paywall can come back empty. If you already have the page's HTML, pass that instead.
- To print a page from a chat in Claude or another assistant without an API key, PrintFriendly has a separate connector at https://www.printfriendly.com/api/mcp.
