# Postman MCP Server

> Postman's own MCP server: your agent works in your workspaces, collections, specs and environments, and runs your API tests.

Postman's official MCP server connects your agent to your Postman workspaces, collections, specifications, environments, mocks and monitors. You ask in plain words, and it turns that into calls to the Postman API.

What you can do with it
- Create and tag collections, update their documentation and add comments, across several collections at once
- Create workspaces and environments, and manage environment variables
- Create specs from your code, generate collections from them and keep specs and collections in sync
- Run a collection to test your API
- Generate client code from public and internal API definitions
- Search Postman's docs for guides and reference

How it connects
Postman hosts it at https://mcp.postman.com. The address this page installs, /mcp, is the Full set with every Postman API tool. Postman's setup guides start with /minimal, the everyday essentials, and it also offers /code for client code, /learn for its docs and /context-graph (when Context Graph is enabled for your team). Fewer tools means lower token use and helps your agent pick the right one.
On the US server, agents that support OAuth sign you in to Postman; you can also send a Postman API key as an Authorization: Bearer header. The EU server, https://mcp.eu.postman.com, takes an API key only.
It also runs on your machine with npx @postman/postman-mcp-server and your key in POSTMAN_API_KEY. That starts the Minimal set; add --code or --full for the others, or --region eu for the EU region. Use the local server to test APIs running on your machine, which the hosted server can't reach.

Good to know
You need a Postman account. Tool calls count toward your plan's monthly Postman API limits. The hosted server collects anonymous telemetry; the local one only does if you opt in. For coding agents that work in a repository, Postman also offers the Postman CLI and its agent skills.
