# Porkbun MCP

> Porkbun's official MCP server: your agent checks and registers domains, edits DNS, sets up hosting and moves zones to Cloudflare.

The Porkbun MCP server is the official one from Porkbun, the domain registrar: built, hosted and maintained by Porkbun. It puts the Porkbun API in your agent, so you ask in plain words and it checks, registers and manages your domains for you.

What you can do with it
- Check availability and pricing, then register, renew or transfer domains
- Search expired-domain closeouts and taken names that are for sale on the aftermarket
- Create, update and delete DNS records, and manage DNSSEC, nameservers, glue records and URL and email forwarding
- Scan a domain's live DNS and import it before a transfer, so it keeps resolving
- Provision static hosting or a managed WordPress site, and deploy files
- Move domains to your own Cloudflare account, then manage their records and zone settings
- Set up signed webhooks for registrations, renewals, transfers, expiring domains and DNS changes
- Search Porkbun's API docs, with no API key needed

How it connects
Porkbun hosts it at https://mcp.porkbun.com/mcp. Add that address as a connector, sign in to Porkbun and approve; there's no API key to copy. Porkbun's setup guide covers ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code and Cursor, and it also comes as a Gemini CLI extension. Or run it on your machine with npx -y @porkbunllc/mcp-server (Node.js 18 or later) and your PORKBUN_API_KEY and PORKBUN_SECRET_API_KEY.

Choose what it can do
- When you sign in, pick full access, manage but no purchases, or read-only.
- https://mcp.porkbun.com/mcp/no-purchases leaves out everything that buys or charges. https://mcp.porkbun.com/mcp/no-topups can buy with credit already on your account but never charges a card.
- Each connection shows up as its own API key under API access, where you can limit it to some domains or disconnect it.

Good to know
- Purchases spend prepaid account credit, within a monthly spend limit that only you can change, on the website.
- Paid and destructive calls take a dry run first, and every tool says whether it only reads or destroys something.
- A sandbox key runs everything against a test environment with fake credit.
- The server and the hosted connector are free; domains and services are charged at normal Porkbun prices.
