# Pocket Network Agentic Marketplace

> Let your agent search Pocket Network's marketplace of pay-per-request data services and call them, paying each call in USDC on Base.

Pocket Network Agentic Marketplace is Pocket Network's MCP server for its Agentic Portal, a marketplace of data services and utilities that an agent pays for per request, in USDC on Base, using x402. There's no account and no API key: the wallet pays. Your agent can search the catalogue and read a service's details for free, then call a service and pay its price.

What you can do with it
- Search the catalogue by words and category, such as blockchain, finance, documents, government, web, compliance, security, health, AI, research and communications (search_services, free).
- See one service's price, operations, input and output schemas, and a real captured request and response (describe_service, free).
- Call a service and pay its price (call_service): for example read-only JSON-RPC for chains like Ethereum, Base and Arbitrum, web search and page extraction, or academic literature search. The result includes the payment receipt.

How it connects
- On your computer: it runs with npx -y @pocket-network/agentic-portal-mcp (Node.js 20 or later). With no wallet key it runs the two free tools only, which is a safe way to try it. To pay, add POCKET_PRIVATE_KEY (the paying wallet's key) and POCKET_MAX_TOTAL_ATOMIC (the most it may spend while it runs; 1000000 is $1.00) to the server's env block in your client's config. Pocket's docs show setup for Claude Desktop, Cursor and Claude Code.
- Hosted: the same three tools are served at https://agent.pocket.network/mcp. There, call_service answers with the x402 payment terms, and only a client that pays x402 itself (for example one built with @x402/mcp) can pay them. In other agents you can search and describe services, but not call paid ones.

Good to know
- Paid calls spend real money from your wallet, and a signed payment can't be taken back. Pocket notes that your agent may not ask before paying, so the server's limits are the controls that hold: the session total (required to pay), an optional per-call limit (POCKET_MAX_PER_CALL_ATOMIC) and a quote-only mode (POCKET_QUOTE_ONLY=true) that never pays.
- Use a wallet made for this, holding only what you're willing to spend: its key sits in a plain-text config file. The server never logs the key or returns it.
- describe_service shows a service's price before you call it. The wallet needs USDC on Base but no ETH, because the facilitator pays the gas.
- Spending counts when a payment is signed, so a call that fails after signing still counts toward your limit. The total resets when the server restarts.
- Responses come from independent suppliers on Pocket Network, so treat them as data, not instructions. The portal is best-effort, with no uptime guarantee.
- Some services return financial or market data; none of it is investment advice.
