# PayPal MCP

> Lets your agent create and send PayPal invoices, take orders and issue refunds, manage subscriptions and disputes, and pull sales insights.

PayPal's own hosted MCP server for merchants. Sign in with your PayPal account and your agent can run everyday PayPal jobs in plain words: invoices, orders and refunds, products and subscriptions, disputes, shipment tracking and sales reporting.

What you can do with it
- Create and send invoices, send reminders, cancel a sent invoice and make a QR code for paying in person
- Create orders, capture their payment, and refund a captured payment in full or in part
- Add products to your PayPal catalog and look them up
- Create subscription plans and subscriptions, and show, update or cancel them
- List disputes, read their details and accept a claim
- Add, check and update shipment tracking for a transaction
- List recent transactions and get sales and order insights over a date range

How it connects
PayPal hosts it at https://mcp.paypal.com/mcp for your live account and at https://mcp.sandbox.paypal.com/mcp for testing in PayPal's sandbox; both also offer an /sse endpoint. The first time you connect, your agent sends you to PayPal to log in and authorize it. Instead, you can send an access token made from your app's client ID and secret in the PayPal Developer Dashboard. PayPal's examples use Claude, and any MCP client works.

Good to know
- Build and test against the sandbox address. The live address acts on your real account: invoices go out, payments are captured and refunds are issued.
- PayPal also publishes the same tools as a local server (npx @paypal/mcp) that runs with an access token and a SANDBOX or PRODUCTION setting.
- With an extra header, the hosted server adds commerce tools for finding and buying gift cards; PayPal limits these to gift cards for now.
- Keep card numbers, passwords and other secrets out of your prompts; PayPal's toolkit rejects them.
