# Oura Ring MCP

> A community MCP server, not by Oura: your agent reads your Oura Ring sleep, readiness and activity data and looks for patterns.

A community-built MCP server by Mitch Hankins (mitchhankins01) for the Oura Ring. It isn't made by Oura. It lets your agent read your sleep, readiness, activity and other Oura data through Oura's own API, formatted so it's easy to read, and work out trends, comparisons and unusual readings from it.

What you can do with it
- Check last night's sleep: stages, efficiency, heart rate, HRV and what went into your score
- See today's readiness score and its contributors
- Look at activity, workouts, meditation sessions, heart rate, stress, SpO2 and more
- Find unusual readings, compare this week with last, and follow your HRV trend
- Compare days with and without one of your Oura tags, and see what goes with your best nights of sleep
- Start from its built-in prompts for a weekly review, a recovery check or a sleep review

How it connects
It runs on your machine with npx oura-ring-mcp and needs Node.js 18 or newer. It needs your Oura sign-in in one of two ways:
- OAuth: create an OAuth application in Oura's developer portal, set OURA_CLIENT_ID and OURA_CLIENT_SECRET, and run npx oura-ring-mcp auth once. It saves your credentials in ~/.oura-mcp/credentials.json. Give the server the same client ID and secret if you want it to refresh the token itself.
- A personal access token in OURA_ACCESS_TOKEN. Oura now marks personal access tokens as deprecated, so OAuth is the route to rely on.
The server won't start if it finds neither, and the install steps here don't add the token for you.

Good to know
- It only reads your Oura data. It has no tools that change anything in your account.
- The maker also documents running it as a remote server you deploy and host yourself.
- It works with your own wearable data. What your agent says about it isn't medical advice; talk to a doctor about any health concern.
