# OpusClip MCP Server

> Lets your agent turn long videos into short clips with OpusClip, then caption, edit, export, and post or schedule them.

OpusClip's own MCP server. Give your agent a YouTube or Vimeo link, or upload a video, and OpusClip finds the best moments and returns short clips with captions, reframed for vertical. Your agent can then edit them, write social copy, make thumbnails, and post or schedule them to your connected social accounts.

What you can do with it
- Clip a long video into short clips, picked and scored by OpusClip's AI
- Edit clips in plain words: captions, emoji and keyword highlights, filler-word and pause removal, trims, splits, reordering, caption style and dubbing
- Pull a project's transcript, and see what's on screen across a stretch of the source video
- Generate thumbnails and platform-specific social copy
- Group clips into collections and get HD download links
- Post a clip now, schedule it, or cancel a scheduled post on your connected social accounts
- Check your API usage and which organization you're connected to

How it connects
OpusClip hosts it at https://mcp.opus.pro/mcp. You sign in to your OpusClip account in the browser on first use (OAuth), with no API key. If you belong to several organizations, the one you pick then stays fixed for that connection. For agents that only run local servers, OpusClip's npm launcher (npx -y @opusclip/mcp) or PyPI launcher (uvx opusclip-mcp) connects to the same hosted server through mcp-remote; both need Node.js 18 or later. OpusClip documents setup for Claude Code, Cursor, Cline, ChatGPT and Codex. For Claude.ai, it also offers a separate Claude Connector, where posting and scheduling wait for you to confirm in OpusClip.

Good to know
- Any OpusClip account can sign in and see the tools, but using them needs API access on a Pro, Max or Business plan.
- Clipping, censoring and thumbnails use credits, and the API has monthly and concurrent-project limits.
- Read tools run without an approval prompt; each write asks for approval. On this server, posting, scheduling, unscheduling and sharing a project take effect straight away once approved.
