# Novus

> Pendo's Novus skills for your agent: UX reviews, usage briefs, build value reports and what to build next, backed by product analytics.

Novus is Pendo's product agent. It instruments your application and turns adoption, funnels, frustration and feedback into evidence about what customers actually do. This Gemini CLI extension gives your coding agent Novus's skills and connects it to the Novus MCP server, so it can check the work in front of you against that evidence: review the UX of your changes before a pull request, brief you on how the area you're touching is used, report what shipped work added up to, and recommend what to finish, build or defer next.

What you can do with it
- ux-review: check uncommitted or branch-local changes for UX problems such as wrong visual semantics, settings that silently don't persist, buried features, missing loading and error states, or well-used paths being removed. With Novus connected, findings come with traffic, adoption, funnel and frustration evidence and follow your team's UX review instructions.
- usage-brief: see how the product area a PR or ticket touches is used today, who could benefit from the change and what would show it helped.
- build-impact: a Build Value report on what a team's shipped improvements in a product area add up to for customers, or a check on one specific change, launch or experiment.
- whats-next: one evidence-backed recommendation on what to finish, build next or defer, from your current work, Novus customer evidence and Linear or Jira plans.
- build-investment: a short leadership brief comparing what was planned, built and experienced across product areas, recommending whether to sustain, increase, redirect or reduce investment.
- verify-instrumentation: a trust verdict on whether a surface's Pendo data is good enough to base a decision on, with the smallest repair that would raise it.

How it connects
Install it with gemini extensions install https://github.com/pendo-io/novus-plugin. It adds the Novus MCP server at https://novus-api.pendo.io/mcp, which uses OAuth: the first time a skill calls a Novus tool, your browser opens, you sign in to Novus and pick a subscription and app. There's no API key to configure.

Good to know
- You need a Novus account. Pendo lists Novus as a beta, and you can sign up at novus.pendo.io.
- Without a Novus connection, ux-review still reports what it can see in the code.
- build-investment and verify-instrumentation are read-only. usage-brief posts a PR or ticket comment, and ux-review saves a review preference to Novus, only after you confirm the exact text and target. ux-review never posts to GitHub or Bitbucket.
- whats-next and build-investment read Linear or Jira through Novus's own integrations or connectors your agent already has, and say so when neither is available.
- The same repository also installs as a plugin in Claude Code and Codex CLI.
