# Notion MCP

> Lets your agent search, read, create and update the pages and databases in your Notion workspace, with your own permissions.

Notion's own hosted MCP server. Once you sign in with Notion, your agent can search your workspace, read pages and databases, and create and update pages, databases and comments, with the same access you have. Notion runs it at mcp.notion.com, so there's nothing to install.

What you can do with it
- Search pages and databases, or look up a workspace member by name or email
- Read pages, databases and saved views, and query a database's rows
- Create pages, including from a database template, and create databases with the fields you need
- Update a page's properties and content, and move or duplicate pages
- Read comments and discussions, add comments and reply to them
- Upload files and attach them to pages
- Check your connected calendars and create or update events
- On Business and Enterprise plans with Notion AI, search connected sources such as Slack, Google Drive and GitHub, and query your meeting notes

How it connects
Notion hosts it at https://mcp.notion.com/mcp, with https://mcp.notion.com/sse as a fallback for agents that don't support Streamable HTTP. Add it as a remote MCP server, then sign in with Notion (OAuth) and choose the workspace. Notion documents it for ChatGPT, Claude and more. On Business and Enterprise plans, a workspace owner can create an MCP token for connections that skip the browser sign-in.

Good to know
- It acts with your full Notion permissions: it reaches everything you can, and nothing more.
- It works on every Notion plan. Connected-source search, meeting notes and unlimited database SQL queries need Business or Enterprise with Notion AI, and some search filters need Business or Enterprise.
- Only workspace members can connect it, not guests.
- Enterprise admins can choose which agents members may connect.
- Every call counts toward Notion's standard API rate limits.
- Notion's older open-source notion-mcp-server is no longer actively maintained; Notion recommends this hosted server instead.
