# NetSuite Finance Analyst

> Oracle NetSuite's skill for finance analysis on live NetSuite data: statements, variance, close, aging, cash and board-ready narratives.

Oracle NetSuite's own plugin for finance teams. It adds one skill, NetSuite Finance Analyst, that has your agent work like a director of financial analysis on live NetSuite data. It pulls your financial reports, saved searches and records through the NetSuite AI Connector Service, then says what happened, why, what it means and what should happen next.

What you can do with it
- CFO view: a live income statement, balance sheet and cash snapshot, with the top three drivers of change and a recommended action, owner and timeline
- Board-ready narratives: a headline, performance summary, key risks and outlook, labelled preliminary or final by close status
- Budget vs. actual by account and department, with the top variance drivers in dollars and percentages, split into recurring, timing and one-time items
- Income statement deep dives for any period and subsidiary, with margin movement split into volume, price and mix
- Balance sheet health checks across subsidiaries and currencies, including intercompany eliminations
- Month-end close readiness: open periods, unposted transactions and pending approvals, with the remaining tasks sequenced by owner and priority
- Journal entry review: manual entries above a threshold or missing supporting detail
- AR and AP aging, collection priorities, vendor exposure, and cash position and runway across subsidiaries and currencies

How it connects
- The plugin is a skill. Your NetSuite data comes from the NetSuite AI Connector Service, NetSuite's MCP server, which you connect to your agent first. In Claude that's the NetSuite connector, or a custom connector with your account's server URL, such as https://<accountid>.suitetalk.api.netsuite.com/services/mcp/v1/suiteapp/com.netsuite.mcpstandardtools for the MCP Standard Tools SuiteApp.
- A NetSuite administrator enables the Server SuiteScript and OAuth 2.0 features (plus REST Web Services for the MCP Standard Tools SuiteApp) and gives your role the MCP Server Connection and Log in using OAuth 2.0 Access Tokens permissions.
- You sign in to NetSuite with a non-administrator role: the connector won't run under the Administrator role or a full-access role. The agent sees only what your role can see.
- In Claude Code, it's in Anthropic's official plugin marketplace: /plugin install netsuite-finance-analyst@claude-plugins-official.

How it differs from NetSuite SuiteCloud
- NetSuite SuiteCloud is Oracle's skills for developers writing SuiteScript and SDF projects; it works on project files and never connects to an account.
- NetSuite Finance Analyst is for finance teams. It works on your live accounting data through the AI Connector, and leaves SuiteScript and SDF work to the developer skills.

Good to know
- It's read-only by default. It writes a record only when you ask, after you confirm the record, period, subsidiary and accounting impact, and it treats journal entries, reclasses and accruals as high-risk.
- Results for an open period are labelled preliminary, with what's still outstanding.
- The first time, it runs a short onboarding that probes your fiscal calendar, subsidiaries, books, modules and saved searches, and asks you to confirm what it found.
- Oracle notes that it isn't financial advice and AI output may be wrong: check results with a qualified finance professional before acting on them.
