# monday.com MCP

> Lets your agent find, create and update monday.com items, boards, docs and dashboards, and report on your team's work.

monday.com's own hosted MCP server connects your agent to your monday.com account. It can find and update items, build boards, write monday docs, create dashboards and answer questions across your boards, all within what your account is allowed to see and change.

What you can do with it
- Ask for a board's status, find items, or sum up what changed on a board this week
- Turn meeting notes into items with owners, priorities and due dates
- Change statuses, people and dates, and add updates to items
- Create boards, columns and groups, and organize workspaces and folders
- Write specs, SOPs and retros as monday docs, in a workspace or attached to an item
- Build dashboards and widgets, and get board insights such as status counts and workload
- Create and edit forms, and get sprint summaries from monday dev
- Run any monday.com GraphQL query when the standard tools don't cover it

How it connects
monday.com hosts it at https://mcp.monday.com/mcp, and it's already installed on every monday.com account. The first time your agent uses it, you sign in to monday.com with OAuth, and it can only reach what your account can. You can send a monday.com API token in an Authorization header instead. In Gemini CLI it installs as an extension (gemini extensions install https://github.com/mondaycom/mcp) with custom commands such as /monday:sprint-summary; run /mcp auth monday to sign in.

Good to know
- It's included on every monday.com plan at no extra cost, and standard API limits apply.
- Admins and members can use it; viewers can't. On Enterprise, admins can also let guests use it.
- If you can't connect, ask your admin to check Admin, Permissions, AI Connectors.
- monday.com suggests reviewing changes your agent proposes before you confirm them.
- monday.com also publishes an open source version you run yourself with npx (@mondaydotcomorg/monday-api-mcp), which has a read-only mode.
