# Mintlify plugin

> Mintlify's Claude plugin: a skill for building Mintlify docs (components, docs.json, navigation, API pages) plus its docs search server.

Mintlify's own plugin for Claude Code. It installs a mintlify skill that teaches your agent how Mintlify docs sites are built, and connects Mintlify's hosted search server so it can check Mintlify's current documentation. Before writing, the skill has your agent read the project's docs.json and a few similar pages, so new pages match the site.

What its skill covers
- MDX pages and frontmatter: titles, descriptions, keywords, file naming, root-relative links and images with alt text
- Mintlify's components: callouts, cards, steps, tabs, accordions, code groups, fields, frames and more
- docs.json settings: theme, colors, logo, fonts, navbar, footer, redirects, SEO, integrations and custom CSS or JS
- Navigation: groups, tabs, anchors, dropdowns, products, versions and languages
- API docs from OpenAPI or AsyncAPI specs, endpoint pages and the API playground
- The mint CLI: local preview, validation, broken-link and accessibility checks, and analytics
- Mintlify's writing standards and the common mistakes to avoid

The MCP server
The plugin connects Mintlify's hosted search server at https://mintlify.com/docs/mcp, which reads Mintlify's public docs. There's no sign-in.

How to install it
- The install steps here use Anthropic's plugin marketplace, which carries an earlier release of the plugin.
- Mintlify's own marketplace has the newest release: /plugin marketplace add mintlify/mintlify-claude-plugin, then /plugin install mintlify@mintlify-marketplace. It adds Mintlify's admin MCP server for editing your own docs project (you sign in with OAuth the first time; content edits go to a branch and reach your site through a pull request), plus references for the CLI, writing, customization and a product brief the skill keeps in your project.
- The skill alone installs with npx skills add mintlify/mintlify-claude-plugin.
