# Microsoft Learn MCP

> Gives your agent Microsoft's official docs and code samples for Azure, .NET, Windows and more, free and with no sign-in.

The Microsoft Learn MCP Server gives your agent direct access to Microsoft's official documentation, so it answers from current docs instead of outdated training data. It only reads first-party Microsoft documentation, and it's free, with no API key or sign-in.

What you can do with it
- Search Microsoft's technical documentation for Azure, .NET, Windows and more
- Fetch a full documentation page as Markdown
- Find official Microsoft and Azure code samples, filtered by language
- Check that an API or method your agent wants to use really exists

How it connects
Microsoft hosts it at https://learn.microsoft.com/api/mcp. Add it as a connector in ChatGPT or Claude, or to Codex, Cursor, VS Code, Gemini CLI and other agents. In Claude Code, the microsoft-docs plugin bundles the server with Microsoft's Learn skills, and Visual Studio has it built in.

Agent skills
Microsoft also provides three skills: microsoft-docs for concepts and how-tos, microsoft-code-reference for APIs, samples and errors, and microsoft-skill-creator, which writes a skill for any Microsoft technology.

Good to know
Adding ?maxTokenBudget=2000 to the address caps how much text each search returns (an experimental feature).
