# Linear skill by glebis

> A community skill that lets your agent create, list, update and comment on Linear issues through a small CLI over Linear's MCP server.

A community skill by Gleb Kalinin (glebis), from his claude-skills collection. It isn't made by Linear. It bundles a small Python command-line tool that your agent runs to work with your Linear issues, and that tool talks to Linear's own hosted MCP server. For Linear's official server, see Linear MCP.

What you can do with it
- Create issues with a team, state, assignee, priority, due date, label and a Markdown description
- List issues, filtered by team, by status or to just yours
- Show an issue's details, and update its title, description, state, priority, assignee or due date
- Add comments to an issue
- Look up teams, workflow statuses, labels and your own account
- Get machine-readable output with --json

How it connects
- The bundled CLI (scripts/linear) needs only Python 3.
- On first use, linear auth opens your browser to sign in to Linear with OAuth, so you don't need an API key. The token is saved in ~/.config/linear/, readable only by you.
- Every command goes through Linear's hosted MCP server at mcp.linear.app.

How to install it
In Claude Code, run claude plugin marketplace add glebis/claude-skills, then claude plugin install linear@glebis-skills. The collection also documents npx skills add glebis/claude-skills, or copying the linear folder into ~/.claude/skills/.

Good to know
- It's a community project by Gleb Kalinin, not an official Linear product.
- It covers issues and comments; it has no commands for projects or milestones.
- It needs a shell, and a browser for the first sign-in, so it suits coding agents.
