# LibreJustice

> Lets your agent search French and European case law and read French codes and statutes, in French, as they stood on any date.

LibreJustice is a free, open-source search engine for French law. Its hosted MCP server lets your agent search court decisions and legal texts and read them in full, with each decision linked to the articles it cites. The content is French law in French: decisions and official texts as published, refreshed daily from open public sources such as Judilibre, Légifrance (DILA) and EUR-Lex.

What you can do with it
- Search decisions by meaning and keywords, filtered by court, date, outcome, legal domain or the articles they cite (search_decisions).
- Read a decision in full, with links to the articles and decisions it cites and what became of it on appeal (get_decision).
- Find legal articles by subject, wording or article number (search_norms).
- Read a code, statute or article as it stood on a given date, with the timeline of its versions (get_norm).

What it covers
- Case law: the Conseil d'État, the Cour de cassation, the cours d'appel, first-instance administrative and judicial courts, the Conseil constitutionnel, the CNIL, the CNDA (publicly released decisions only), the Tribunal des conflits, the European Court of Human Rights and the Court of Justice of the EU.
- Legal texts: French codes and statutes in their consolidated versions, the Journal officiel, EU law, treaties, collective agreements, BOFiP and circulaires.

How it connects
Add https://librejustice.fr/mcp to your agent. LibreJustice is listed in Claude's connector directory and in ChatGPT; in other clients, such as Le Chat and Perplexity, you add it as a custom connector. The first time, you sign in with a free LibreJustice account and approve read access; there's no API key to set. In Claude Code, LibreJustice's own plugin adds the connector along with two research skills.

Good to know
- It only reads: every tool searches or opens sources, and nothing is changed.
- It's a research tool for finding and reading the law, not legal advice. For advice on your own situation, talk to a lawyer.
- Decision summaries are written by AI and kept apart from the court's own words, so quote the decision text rather than the summary.
- It's free and open source under the Apache-2.0 licence.
