# Kong Konnect MCP Server

> Lets your agent manage Kong Konnect: gateway services, routes and plugins, API analytics, debug tracing and Kong's docs.

Kong's own hosted MCP server for Kong Konnect, its API and AI platform. Instead of one tool per action, it gives your agent three that work together across the whole generally available Konnect product: search finds the Konnect API operation for what you want to do, get_schema fetches what that operation needs, and execute calls it. The same tools power KAi, the AI assistant inside Konnect.

What you can do with it
- Query control planes, services, routes, consumers, consumer groups, plugins and vaults
- Start debug sessions with active tracing to find where an API slows down
- Query API request analytics, filtered by time range, status code, consumer, service or route
- Search Kong's documentation for configuration guidance and troubleshooting steps
- Create, edit and publish Dev Portal pages and snippets

How it connects
Kong hosts it at https://global.mcp.konghq.com/, which works whichever Konnect region your resources are in. Regional addresses are also available for the US, EU, Australia and India (us, eu, au or in, as in https://eu.mcp.konghq.com/). Agents that support browser sign-in, such as Claude Code, open Kong Konnect so you can sign in and authorize access. In other agents, add the header Authorization: Bearer <token> with a Konnect Personal Access Token, or a System Account Access Token for automated workflows. Kong's setup guides cover Claude Code, VS Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot and Windsurf.

Good to know
- It only reaches what the signed-in user or system account can see, and every query respects your organization's role-based access controls and regional data boundaries.
- Access is on by default; organization admins can turn it off in Konnect's AI settings.
- With KAi enabled, an extra KnowledgeBase tool improves documentation search. Its models run on AWS Bedrock, and no training is done on your data.
