# GrowthBook MCP

> GrowthBook's MCP server: your agent creates and cleans up feature flags, designs and analyzes A/B tests, and charts product data.

The GrowthBook MCP server connects your agent to GrowthBook, the open-source platform for feature flags, experimentation and product analytics. It's a thin bridge: it loads GrowthBook's own Agent Skills, step-by-step workflows with guardrails, and makes authenticated calls to the GrowthBook REST API.

What you can do with it
- Create, target, ramp, review, publish, search and clean up feature flags
- Find stale flags that are safe to remove
- Brainstorm, design, launch, analyze and stop A/B tests
- Search the metric catalog, chart product data and build dashboards

How it connects
It runs on your machine with npx @growthbook/mcp (Node.js 18 or later). Set GB_API_KEY to a GrowthBook personal access token or API key. GrowthBook recommends a personal access token, so changes are attributed to you and limited to your permissions. For a self-hosted GrowthBook, also set GB_API_URL to your API's address. On GrowthBook Cloud you can instead connect to GrowthBook's hosted server at https://mcp.growthbook.io/mcp and sign in with OAuth.

Its four tools
- growthbook_list_skills and growthbook_read_skill load the workflow for your task
- growthbook_api_read makes read-only GET calls to the GrowthBook API
- growthbook_api_write makes POST, PUT, PATCH and DELETE calls

Good to know
- The skills keep GrowthBook's guardrails, such as draft, review and publish, and two-step deletes.
- Give the key the Read only preset to block every write, or Human-in-the-Loop (Enterprise) so risky changes wait for a person to confirm them in GrowthBook.
- Set GB_SKILLS_ENABLED to false to expose only the two API tools when you bring your own workflows.
