# Follow Up Boss MCP (Neuhaus)

> A community-built local MCP server for Follow Up Boss: your agent finds contacts, adds notes and tasks, and moves deals along your pipeline.

Follow Up Boss MCP lets your agent work in your Follow Up Boss real-estate CRM in plain words. Ed Neuhaus, broker at Neuhaus Realty Group in Austin, Texas, built it for his own business. It's an independent, community-built project, not made by or affiliated with Follow Up Boss.

What you can do with it
- Search, view, create and update contacts, and manage their tags, stages and relationships
- Create deals, move them through pipeline stages, and update their values and closing dates
- Set up follow-up tasks and appointments
- Add notes to a contact's timeline, and read call logs and text message history
- Create, edit and merge email and text message templates
- Work with smart lists, action plans, custom fields, teams, groups and lead ponds

How it connects
It runs on your own computer with Node.js 18 or later and talks straight to Follow Up Boss's API. The simplest way in is the .mcpb file from the project's latest GitHub release: open it in Claude Desktop, which installs the server and asks for your API key. You can also clone the repository, run npm install and npm run setup, and point Claude Code, Cursor or another local MCP client at node index.js with FUB_API_KEY set.

Signing in
It uses your own Follow Up Boss API key, from Admin > API. Creating one needs broker or account-owner permissions, so agents on a team ask their broker for it. The key stays on your machine.

Good to know
- It can read and change your CRM data, so the maker recommends backing up your Follow Up Boss data first and reviewing changes before you confirm them.
- Safe Mode is on by default and hides the tools that delete records. Create and update tools stay available.
- For read-only access, the maker suggests a restricted API key in Follow Up Boss.
- Some endpoints, such as webhooks, inbox apps, automations, text-message logging and attachments, need registered-system credentials that Follow Up Boss issues only to approved integration partners. Leave them unset and those tools return a clear error.
- It only runs locally. The maker says there won't be a hosted version, because Follow Up Boss's API terms don't permit one, so it doesn't work in ChatGPT or Gemini on the web.
- Free to self-host under the Elastic License 2.0.
