# Fastly Agent Toolkit

> Fastly's own skills teach your agent the Fastly platform and CLI, VCL testing with Falco and Fiddle, local Compute runs and WAF audits.

Fastly's own collection of Agent Skills for coding agents that work with the Fastly platform and its edge computing tools. It's a skills-only plugin: it teaches your agent how to configure and debug Fastly services, write and test VCL, run Fastly Compute apps locally, read traffic statistics and audit Next-Gen WAF rules, using the developer tools you install and the Fastly credentials you set up yourself.

What its skills cover
- fastly: services and backends, caching and VCL, DDoS, WAF, rate limiting and bot management, TLS certificates, purging, Compute and the REST API, plus troubleshooting 503 errors
- fastly-cli: managing services, Compute deploys, logging, WAF, TLS, key-value stores and stats with the Fastly CLI
- fastly-stats: cache hit ratio, bandwidth, request counts, error rates, origin latency and usage, from the Historical Stats, Real-Time and Origin/Domain Inspector APIs
- fastly-ngwaf: auditing Next-Gen WAF workspaces for missing or disabled protection rules, and checking whether attack traffic is being blocked
- fastly-fiddle: testing VCL against real Fastly edge infrastructure with Fastly Fiddle, including shareable bug reproductions and CI tests
- falco and xvcl: linting, testing, simulating and formatting VCL with Falco, and writing VCL with loops, functions and constants through the XVCL transpiler
- viceroy and fastlike: running Fastly Compute apps locally
- fastly-reference-architectures: curated example repositories showing working architectures on Fastly

How to install it
In Claude Code, run claude plugin install fastly-agent-toolkit@claude-plugins-official. In Gemini CLI, add the repository as an extension. The skills follow the open Agent Skills format, so you can also copy only the ones you need into agents that read .agents/skills. Fastly suggests picking just the skills your project needs: falco and xvcl for VCL work, and fastly-cli with viceroy or fastlike for Compute.

Good to know
- Installing it doesn't install the developer tools or connect a Fastly account. Add what your workflow needs (the Fastly CLI, Falco, XVCL, Fastlike or Viceroy), and set up Fastly sign-in yourself with the CLI's login or local configuration.
- Don't paste API keys into the chat, and use credentials with only the permissions the task needs.
- Fastly Fiddle tests upload your VCL and request details to a public Fastly sandbox.
- It has no MCP server, hosted backend or telemetry of its own.
