# Docker Skills

> Docker's own skills for Dockerfiles, Compose, Docker Sandboxes and Docker Agent, with a guardrail that confirms destructive commands first.

Docker's official, open-source skills for coding agents. They help your agent with Docker tasks, such as improving a Dockerfile or setting up a Compose application, following Docker's own guidance. Your agent loads the right skill when a request matches, so you don't need to name one; ask for an outcome in plain language, like "Make this Dockerfile smaller and run as a non-root user."

How to install it
In Claude Code, run /plugin marketplace add docker/skills, then /plugin install docker-skills@docker. In Gemini CLI, run gemini extensions install https://github.com/docker/skills. Docker also documents plugin installs for Codex, GitHub Copilot CLI and Cursor, and npx skills add docker/skills installs the skills into other coding agents.

Good to know
- Plugin and extension installs also add Docker's remote docs MCP server, which the Docker Docs skill uses to search the documentation.
- Some skills are marked experimental, because the features they cover may still change.
- Skills guide the agent; Docker suggests reviewing its changes, running your tests and confirming destructive operations yourself.
