# Cryptohopper Market Data

> Let your agent pull live crypto tickers, orderbooks and candles from major exchanges through Cryptohopper. Read-only market data.

Cryptohopper Market Data is Cryptohopper's hosted MCP server for live crypto market data. Your agent can read spot-market tickers, orderbooks and candles from the exchanges it supports, in one format across all of them. It reads market data only: it has no trading tools and doesn't connect to your exchange accounts.

What you can do with it
- Get a market's current ticker: last price, best bid and ask, 24-hour high, low, change and volume (get_ticker).
- Take a snapshot of an orderbook's bids and asks, to the depth you ask for (get_orderbook).
- Pull OHLCV candles from 1 minute to 1 day (get_candles).
- List the supported exchanges, an exchange's markets and quote currencies, or one market's details (list_exchanges, list_markets, list_quote_currencies, get_market).
- Check your weekly usage and your tier (get_usage).

How it connects
Add https://mcp-data.cryptohopper.com/mcp to your agent. You need a Cryptohopper account. Agents that support sign-in open a browser the first time so you can approve access; for others, create an MCP API key in your Cryptohopper profile and send it as an Authorization: Bearer header. Cryptohopper's docs have setup guides for Claude Code, Claude desktop, Cursor, VS Code, Zed, Gemini CLI and Codex.

Good to know
- The free Pioneer tier covers Binance, Coinbase and Kraken with real-time data only. Paid tiers add more exchanges, such as Bybit, OKX, KuCoin and Bitvavo, and historical candles.
- Calls count against a weekly limit per account that resets every Friday. On some tiers a historical candle query counts as several calls.
- Spot markets only: no perpetuals, futures or options.
- Each call is a point-in-time snapshot, not a live stream.
- It shows market data; it doesn't give investment advice.

## Install

You'll need:

- `Authorization` (optional): Bearer token. Required ONLY for clients that don't speak OAuth (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor) — create an MCP API key in your Cryptohopper account. ChatGPT and Claude.ai discover OAuth automatically; leave this blank for those.

Replace each `<NAME>` placeholder with your own value.

### ChatGPT

In ChatGPT on the web: Plugins → + → Add custom MCP server, then paste https://mcp-data.cryptohopper.com/mcp under Connection. Business and Enterprise plans; Pro can add read-only servers.
