# Cloudinary Asset Management MCP

> Cloudinary's MCP server: upload, search, organize, transform and generate images, videos and files in your Cloudinary account.

Cloudinary's own MCP server for its Asset Management API. It lets your agent upload, find, organize, transform and generate images, videos and files in your Cloudinary product environment, from the chat.

What you can do with it
- Upload images, videos and raw files from a URL, or from a local file path with the local server
- Search assets by tag, folder, type or upload date, or find visually similar images
- List, rename, update and delete assets, set tags, context and structured metadata, and work with folders
- Build transformation URLs and create derived assets, using Cloudinary's transformation reference
- Generate images from a text prompt or from reference images, with the Image Generation add-on
- Create ZIP archives of assets and check your account's usage

How it connects
Cloudinary hosts it at https://asset-management.mcp.cloudinary.com/mcp. By default you sign in with OAuth and pick the product environment (cloud) to use; you can send your cloud name, API key and API secret as headers instead. It also runs locally with npx @cloudinary/asset-management-mcp start (Node.js 20 or later) or as a Docker image, with your cloud name, API key and API secret.

Good to know
- It's one of several Cloudinary MCP servers. Environment Config, Structured Metadata, Analysis and MediaFlows are separate servers.
- Some features need an add-on or a console setting turned on first, such as Image Generation.
- In clients that show MCP apps it can display an asset gallery, asset details and an upload view. On the local server, --mcp-apps none turns them off.
- The local server's dynamic mode (--mode dynamic) exposes a few meta-tools instead of every tool, to save context.
