# Chessigma

> Lets your agent teach chess openings, name the opening behind your moves, check positions and games, and serve the daily puzzle.

Chessigma's own MCP server brings its chess tools into your agent. Ask about an opening, find out which opening your moves are, check a position from its FEN, summarize a game from its PGN, get a review link for a Chess.com or Lichess game, try the daily puzzle or estimate a rating change. The tools state facts from the rules of chess, an opening catalogue and Chessigma's puzzle archive; they don't run a chess engine.

What you can do with it
- Learn an opening: its main line, key variations and the ideas for each side. Popular openings have a full guide, and any catalogued opening name gives its ECO code and moves.
- Name the opening of a move sequence or PGN, see how long it followed theory and the first move that left it
- Read a position from its FEN: side to move, check, checkmate or stalemate, every legal move and the material count
- Summarize a game from its PGN: players, result, opening and how it ended
- Turn a public Chess.com live game or Lichess game link into a move-by-move review on Chessigma
- Get today's puzzle, or any day's since 1 January 2024, with its solution and a link to play it
- Estimate a rating change after one game with the Elo formula, with K-factor defaults for FIDE, Chess.com and Lichess

How it connects
Chessigma hosts it at https://www.chessigma.com/api/mcp (Streamable HTTP). There's nothing to install, no account and no sign-in. In Claude you can also add it from Claude's connector directory.

Good to know
- Every tool is read-only: none writes data, calls an AI model or fetches another site while it runs.
- For engine analysis, its links open Chessigma's analysis board, where Stockfish runs in your browser.
- Chessigma doesn't store what you send. To limit request rates it logs each request's time, IP address and user agent, and each address can send 60 requests a minute and 300 an hour.
