# Chatway Live Chat

> Let your agent read, search and answer your Chatway live chats: triage the inbox, draft replies from your help center, assign and resolve.

Chatway's own MCP server for its live chat and support inbox. Your agent can read and search conversations, look up contacts and search your FAQ and Help Center. If you allow it, it can also reply to customers, add notes, and assign, tag and resolve conversations.

What you can do with it
- List, search and read conversations, with their full message history
- Find contacts and see a visitor's details and past conversations
- Search your FAQ and Help Center to ground an answer in your own docs
- Draft replies in the chat, or send them to the customer once you've granted reply permission
- Add private notes, tag contacts and set custom data (tags and custom data need a paid plan)
- Assign conversations to teammates, resolve or reopen them, and hand a conversation from Chatway's AI assistant to a human

How it connects
Chatway hosts it at https://mcp.chatway.app/mcp. Add the address to your agent and sign in with your Chatway account (OAuth, no API key). Only workspace owners and admins can connect. While signing in you choose which widgets and channels it can see (your website widget, email, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram) and which permissions it gets. It works on every Chatway plan, including Free.

Replies go to real customers
- A sent reply goes straight into the conversation as the connection's "Send Replies as" agent. The customer sees it like any other agent reply, and it can't be unsent.
- Chatway asks you to confirm before resolving, reopening or assigning conversations and before removing tags or custom data, but not before sending a reply, so check your agent's approval settings.
- Chatway suggests starting read-only and asking for drafts. Grant the send_replies permission only when you want it to message customers.
- It acts only when you ask. Answering new messages automatically takes Chatway webhooks and a workflow of your own.

Good to know
- Change permissions or disconnect any time under AI, then External AI, in Chatway.
- Chatway also publishes agent skills for triage, reply drafting, routing, customer context and support insights, installed separately with npx skills add Chatway-app/chatway-mcp-server.
- Each connection can make 120 requests a minute.
