# BrowserStack MCP Server

> Test sites and mobile apps on BrowserStack's real browsers and devices, run and fix automated tests, and manage test cases from your agent.

BrowserStack's own MCP server connects your agent to the BrowserStack Test Platform and its cloud of real browsers and devices, so you can test, debug and manage tests in plain words.

What you can do with it
- Open a website on a real browser, or a mobile app on a real iPhone or Android device, and debug app crashes there
- Set up a test suite to run on BrowserStack, run your Playwright, Selenium, Jest and other tests on it, and get help fixing the failures
- Scan a website for accessibility issues and get suggested fixes
- Create and manage Test Management projects, folders, test cases, test runs and their results
- Find and run load tests, read their reports and compare runs
- Use BrowserStack's AI agents to generate test cases from a requirements document, turn manual tests into low-code automation and heal flaky tests

How it connects
- Hosted: add https://mcp.browserstack.com/mcp to your agent and sign in to BrowserStack; there's nothing to install. It can't reach sites behind a VPN, a firewall or localhost.
- Local: run npx @browserstack/mcp-server (Node.js 22 or later) with your BROWSERSTACK_USERNAME and BROWSERSTACK_ACCESS_KEY from your account settings. It can test sites and apps on your machine or behind a corporate firewall.
Either way you need a BrowserStack account; open-source projects can get a free plan.

Good to know
Five core tools (listProducts, describeEntity, searchCapability, describeCapability and invokeCapability) let your agent search a catalog of BrowserStack capabilities and run the one it needs, so it doesn't fill the context window. Changes to data need your approval: the server refuses a write until you confirm it. Suggested fixes from a test's root-cause analysis are only proposals; it never edits your code by itself.
