# Box

> Box's own skills teach your agent to find, organize and share Box content, ask Box AI about files, and run legal workflows in Box.

Box's own plugin for coding agents. It bundles Box's Agent Skills, which teach your agent how to work with Box: finding and organizing content, sharing it, asking Box AI about documents, and building or fixing Box integrations. The skills load on their own when a request matches. Installing the plugin doesn't connect your agent to Box: it works with your content through Box's hosted MCP server, which you connect and sign in to separately.

What its skills cover
- Picking the right Box tool for a job (the MCP server, the Box CLI or the REST API) and diagnosing 401, 403, 404, 409 and 429 errors
- Uploads, folders, moves, metadata and search, plus comments, collaborations and shared links
- Box AI questions, summaries and data extraction across files and hubs, with citations when Box returns them
- Box Hubs, and Doc Gen documents generated from templates
- Webhooks, bulk operations and rate limits for Box integrations
- Legal workflows: checking client intake against a firm's checklist, comparing contracts with approved templates in cited variance reports, and setting up M&A data rooms with scoped access

How to install it
In Claude Code it's in Anthropic's official plugin directory: run /plugin install box@claude-plugins-official. It's also in Cursor's marketplace, Codex can use the repository as a plugin source, and Kiro installs it as the Box Power. The skills alone install with npx skills add box/skills, which also offers Box's skills for the Box CLI, the hosted MCP server, the official SDKs and integration best practices.

How it connects
The skills work with your Box content through Box's hosted MCP server at https://mcp.box.com. A Box admin first enables the server in the Admin Console and creates integration credentials; then you add the server to your agent and sign in to Box with OAuth. Your agent can only reach content your Box account can already open.

Good to know
- Admins choose which Box MCP tools are on. Some, such as moving files, editing metadata and creating shared links, are off until an admin turns them on.
- In the legal workflows, the firm supplies its own checklists, templates and review criteria, and attorneys make the legal and risk calls. They aren't legal advice.
- Doc Gen needs a Box Enterprise Advanced license.
