# Bitly MCP Server

> Lets your agent create short links and QR Codes, build link-in-bio Sites and read click and scan analytics across your Bitly account.

Bitly's own hosted MCP server brings your Bitly account into your agent: the link management you'd get from the Bitly API, website or app, asked for in plain words.

What you can do with it
- Shorten links with titles, tags, a custom back-half and your branded domain, or create a short link and its QR Code in one step
- Change where a link points, retitle, retag or archive it, delete unedited links, and look up where any Bitly link goes
- Create QR Codes and customize their colors, gradients and frames
- See clicks and scans by country, city, device, referrer and over time, for one link, one QR Code or a whole group, including clicks from AI agents
- Bulk-create links and QR Codes from a .CSV or .XLSX file, and export link or QR data as a CSV
- Build, edit and publish Bitly Sites (link-in-bio pages) from templates, with buttons, images, videos and text
- Connect a domain you own, or register your plan's complimentary domain, and set a group's default domain

How it connects
Bitly hosts it at https://api-ssl.bitly.com/v4/mcp. Agents that support OAuth send you to Bitly to sign in and authorize it the first time. Others can use a Bitly API token, generated under Settings, API, as a bearer token. Bitly's setup guides cover ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and Windsurf.

Good to know
- In ChatGPT you add it in Developer Mode, which needs a Plus, Team, Enterprise or Edu plan. On Claude Team and Enterprise plans, a workspace admin has to enable it.
- Some features, such as custom domains and QR Code expiry, depend on your Bitly plan.
